This blog is for both me and you. For you, it is to see the "behind the scenes" look at what teaching really means - not summers off and snow days, but what it's really all about. For me, it's about reminding myself - especially when things get hard, or long, or frustrating, or annoying, or even infuriating - why I love what I want to do.
I'm a teacher. I don't currently teach, but at teacher is what I was meant to be. Many people can say that they've wanted to teach "since they were little" or "for their whole life" but I can honestly say that I've never wanted to do anything else - except maybe be a princess. As a child, I built a "classroom" in our basement (which really was my playroom) complete with chalkboard and stuffed animal students. I spent birthday money at JL Hammet and Hammet Learning World - teacher supply stores that I don't believe even exist any longer. I've owned grade books since I was 7. This is what I was meant to do - and I'll get back to it - hopefully sooner than later.
While I embark on the journey back to the classroom after long-term sub position after long-term sub position ended, I'll share with you (and remind myself) just why I love teaching. The funny, the sweet, the heartbreaking - it'll all be here - and I hope to have you join me for the ride!
